I don't know about any one else here, but I have been struggling with a location to place my amp for the past few months. After some real looking around I had this idea and thought I would post it for others to see. It is a perfect location for my Pyramid and many other size amps. I was not able to fit mine under the front or back seats and didnt want it to be sitting out, good luck!

Didn't think about that for someone Else's project.. lol. I am doing a chop top and placing diamond plate over it so it is not an issue for me. I'm surprised that didn't occur to me...

ive had an amp inder my seat with a fan on it and it still caught fire
amps need to keep cool and the foam really wont help not to mention the foam will just fuel the fire
maybe if you could get it to vent through the panel by cutting holes in it and somehow force air in there it would work great

Thats clean, write up?
Yea, the OP's location isnt safe nor recommended, amplifiers lose efficiency and power when hot.

This is where I put my amp;

And here is my Sub;

My oldest boy bought the sub with his allowence money so I told him we could put it in the jeep. Gotta make the kids happy once in awhile.

Figured I'd add my $0.02 here.....
1) That location is bad for an amp due to the exposure to moisture, possible damage, and heat build-up.
2) I did the "amp under the rear seat thing" in my first XJ. Only ran it there for a short while since one day I pop open the seat and the amp was so hot I literally burnt myself. Not good for the amp's internals to get that hot, nor safe.
Only place that I have ever been comfortable mounting the amp is on the back of the sub box. Its not the ideal spot, but it also doesn't create any hazards. Some folks have cut into the rear seat-back and mounted them in there, but even that isn't ideal if you run the amps often as the heat build-up is not good.

Well, im not a huge radio guy so I don't even use my amp enough for it to get hot. And also that insulation is fireproof up to like 300 degrees so im not worried about it catching fire, it doesn't burn, it only singes, I have tested it. It is industrial sound proofing that I bought off the military here at fort Lewis. It helps so much with the sound deadening I couldn't care less if its hazardous or not which I don't believe that it is, otherwise the military wouldn't use it to sound deaden their boats and others misc vehicles such as the strikers and what not. And as for the amp getting hot, like I said i don't use it often enough for it to cross my mind, and with it being a chop top I think it will get enough air flow for it not to matter, what do you guys think? I had it mounted on the back of my sub enclosure but everyone told me not to because of the vibrations on the amp is a no no. Also, how would the insulation promote rust? Just curious.
