Got hold of R-12, Time to recharge!
I found a friend with a few cans of NAPA R-12! He kindly shared, so it is now time to charge up Luckily they're even the kind with an areosol nozzle already on it, so I don't even need the hose

I put LP in mine, works! I guess that's common in Europe. The smell they add to LP is Mercaptian. Same molecule comes from rotting meat, so if it ever leaks it will draw flies!

It does work, in some cases it works better in R12 systems than a 134 conversion. I guess an engine fire might be interesting, but it would with R12 too as it creates phosgene gas when it burns. (see WWII)

I'm kicking myself....I actually cut out the hose off one of those bottles and adapted it for "wet" LP, but I lost it!
I should note that I salvaged maybe 1 oz of lubricant from an old can and put it in the hose that I attached to the LP. It worked just OK for the first year, now a couple years out she's pretty weak....
