ive been reading on this forum for awhile now. well last night i started to take the oil pan off to replace the gasket cause its been leaking ever since i've gotten the jeep. like everyone say its pain to get out. but everyone always says they have to pry theres off with a few screw drivers and a hammer. as soon as we got the last bolt out it just fell out... i though it was pretty funny so i decided to post this.

That gasket was in pretty bad shape then. It had oil all the way around that was seeping out. WOW.

 

Well you prolly didn't have a cork gasket which is factory installed. If someone has pulled the pan before then they used a felpro when they put it back together which makes it a lot easier to get off the block.

Hopefully you are changing your rearmain seal also while you are down there.

 

That would be a smart move. Cork gasket and no gasket compound by itself.

haha. i still have to do my rear main seal. im not gonna lie. its a pain getting the stupid pan out. i have a 5 in lift on mine and we have the front suspension stretched as far as it could go. and we still had unbolt the 4 bolts hold the TC to the crossmember to get it out.

 

That just shows you how bad your pan gasket was leaking. Anyhting actually holding ANY oil or oil pressure in should be a bit of a pain to get off. I am happy for you that yours was easy. Mine was a BEEEE-otch the first time.

 

yeah. whoever owned the jeep before me didnt really take good care of it. im honestly suprised that it still runs as good as it does...
