i have a 96 xj sport, 4.0 5 speed 8.25 rear axle.. how big can i go with tire size before i have to regear.. i hear alot about with 33 you should go to 4.10 but im not really sure.. i have a 4.5 inch lift and im thinkin on 31s or 32s.. would i have to regear or would i be fine with what i got?

Depends on how much you're willing to spend and how important bringing your power and MPG's back to stock is to you. I used to roll on 31's and 3.55's for awhile and it wasn't too bad I guess. But I sure loved getting more power and better MPG's when I went to 4.10's. If you're mechanically inclined and have the right tools, plan to spend around $500-$600 just for the gears and master install kits. If you have a shop do the labor for you, plan on another $500-$600 on top of the gears for cost of labor, depending on your area.

If you're on a tight budget, I wouldn't worry. Just throw the tires on and call it good. It's a liveable setup.
