Default Gearless locker question

I can buy a Detroit gearless locker (lock right copy)for $150 dose anyone have one or any opinions .....it for my Dana 30 any help would be great

theyre really not great... one of the only autolockers i wouldnt recommend.

I'm running 32 11.50s might move to 33 12.50s

you'll be find with that locker. just grind your axles for some full circle clip u joints though

Didnt they stop selling the gearless for a front axle application after numerous failures... or am i thinking of another manufacturer.

Or was it a rear...

damn didnt know they failed that bad. figured all lunch box lockers were basically the same

OK, talked to my bud... he's the one who had the failure.

IIRC the Gearless came out about 10 years ago. He bought one and put it in the D35 in his YJ.. it blew and took the ring and pinion with it. 5 days before a winter trip to Minnesota Dogsledding. I just happened to have won an ARB just prior.. he ended up replacing with that.

If memory serves me well they no longer offer the Gearless for a rear axle. But after reading COS' post i dont think i'd run one.

FWIW i ran dual Lockrights for a decade with zero problems... still in my rear axle.
