Sure. There is a write-up somewhere I've seen on cleaning/repairing the dimmer. Could also be the fuse, or bad wiring in between.

That's all that doesn't work? Got taillights etc?

Center console lights don't work, and the gauge cluster. If I turn it all the way my dome light kicks on. All front and rear lights are working also. As for tail gait did you mean like brake lights or license plate light?

I meant taillights which would include license plate light but not brake or turn signals.

Look in the fusebox and check your Dome fuse.

Pulled a fuse for I believe it said "parking lights" and there was a 25 amp in there and one side was completely melted and burned bad. So I will swap in a fuse tomorrow and see if it works fine again. I'd assume so.

I know this is an old thread but I was trying to solve the problem as well. I had no taillight markers or license plate light BUT did have brake lights/backup lights/turn signals. Burned up a 10amp fuse in pass. side of cabin ('01 4.0) fuse box. Now this is never really a fix b/c a fuse blows for a reason so just changing a fuse means something else is happening but I also have been doing a complete system coolant flush (the WHOLE system, not just the radiator) and water has been getting everywhere. I also had a A/c compressor bearing blow up at the same time so I just yanked the compressor out, replaced with a bypass pulley and cable-tied the a/c hoses out of the way so I may have gotten something wet, or moved a ground wire or something so I'm not gonna keep tracking this down unless it keeps happening.

The fuse that blew was a 10amp about 5 fuses down from the top the row on the left row (when looking straight on at it). Just FYI for the next guy who is trying to run down this common problem.

It would be nice if people concluded their threads with the fix after they start one and then fix it so others don't have to start over again... Just sayin'.
