Default Gauge cluster

I have the idiot light cluster, I want to swap it for the normal one with all the gauges, now do I need to get all new sending units for oil and temp etc? And will the mileage stay the same? I have a good deal on one , just not sure whats needed

You'll need new oil pressure sensor and temp sensor. Sensors tell the cluster numbers and sending units only display the light.

The mileage will not be the same. The "new" cluster will display how many miles it had on the last vehicle.

Very easy swap for 97+. Remove the dash bezel and remove the screws holding the cluster in. Then there will be two wires on the back of the cluster. You could also swap in LED lights if you want.

There are shops that will adjust the mileage legally.

There's only one temperature sensor in 97+, it's used by the ECU. Tach comes from the ECU via the CKP. All you need to change is the oil pressure sensor and the gauge cluster.

And yeah I think dealerships will do mileage reprogramming if they swap the cluster so they can do the paper work.

OK...I've got a '99 and just swapped my cluster for the exact same reason. It was completely plug and play. I didn't have to change any sensors/senders because they are already there. There weren't any wires to connect. There are two "captured" plugs in your dash that fit into two "captured" plugs in the back of the cluster. Really easy job once you dig down to your cluster. Tach worked perfectly as did all other gauges. I'll second the dealership changing the mileage and certifying, but I would contact them before you begin to see if they need to verify the current mileage while it is installed in your current Jeep.
Granted, mine is a '99 but I've always heard 97-01 were the same.

Cool, but I I contacted my local jeep dealership service center and they told me that they can't change the mileage in it, are they just idiots or try somewhere else or try another dealership in different town

You can account for the mileage discrepancy, like it even matters, but if its a good deal on the cluster just subtract 43,000 miles from whatever it indicates, you know like how you will have to multiply by 1,000 whenever you glance at your new tachometer.
