I was wondering what everyone else's gas mileage runs with a lift kit and tires. Mine seems to use alot - around 12-14mpg and I have only 30inch tires and a 4.5inch lift.....
Any pointers for why its so low? And I'm curious what yalls MPG is??

You need to keep up on all of your basic tune-up stuff: Clean air filter, clean spark plugs, clean oil, clean cap and rotor, good plug wires, clean fuel filter. Ensure you have no vacuum leaks and that your O2 sensor is good. After that it's pretty much as you go bigger with tires, need to go lower with your axle gears. I have a 6 inch lift, 33 inch tires and F&R lockers, but I also have 4.56 axle gears. I average 18mpg on the hwy.

Alright that makes me feel alot better. I figured since I don't have too large of tires that my gas mileage would be better. But I'm glad that yall say it is normal. I was planning on 33s with 4.10 gears. And see how that's treats me. But an O2 sensor would cause bad MPG?

Yeah, if the O2 sensor is bad, it'll make your engine run rich(i think, someone correct me if i'm wrong)... anyways, it'll make the engine run bad, which in turn, causes bad mpg.

im getting 17 average on my 00 with 3" and 31's...14 seems low for 30" tires, the lift doesnt make a significant difference...id check o2 sensors yadda yadda yadda typical engine maintenance

Well, I've got a stock '00 with 130k on it and BFG All-Terrains, and I average 15-17 depending on how I drive. That's a mix of city and highway. The more highway travel I do, the better it is - I calculated 17.5 mpg after a 250 mile drive, about 200 of which were all highway.

heres a question fior anyone running over sized tires: did you recalibrate your speedo? i have 235/75's and i can eek out like 20 if i treat her real good and stick mostly to open highway. around town if can be in the 17ish range if its a lot of stop n' go... lemme see if i can find a calculator to compensate wheel size... one min..
i think for the first time owning my 99 that ive actuall gotten to 300 miles, usually it comes up a little short at like 250-275 before i feel the need.. but this time gas light was only on for a few miles!!

Dang. That's way better then what I have been getting. I've done all the normal preventative maintenance. How do I check my O2 sensor? Dont you have to plug one of those computer readers up to it? And to change it you just have to replace it right? What's the normal O2 sensor go for?
ok, so some math leads me to this: your 32" tires are JUST shy of 10% larger than a 235. so thats what iknow, what i dont know is this: is there a direct correlation between tire size and odometer reading? what i mean is, does your odometer read 10% over what it should? basically, this would take your 22 mpg down to 18.8, which, in all honesty, seems more likely... just wondering!! idk if thats how the math works... also your spedo will read in at just shy of 11% to slow... so 50 mph would read as like 45...
o2's are important for good gas milage. if doing one do both. they are about as straight forward as you could hope for. i paid like 110/ea for mine... been told (by one person...) that i paid too much... but idk how said individual knows what my budget for parts is, or what specific part i actually bought... so making a personal evaluation towards my situation is all well and good, but i really didnt care to hear it... spend as little or as much as you want, but if you think like me, then ya get what ya pay for... ok, im done
