Gas Mileage????
A thought, well a couple really... Not that it matters.. But doesn't a gal. weigh closer to 9 lbs? And I know that when I fill up at different gas stations, I can get more into tank at one place cause of the lack of vapor guard on pump nozzle. So this is a variable in calculating mpgs/ the best way to tell would be to run it dry and then put just one gal in and see wheat you get.. But.. Running it dry isn't good as it can cause combustion issues... Though not too common... So idk...

Evansfordsp1-How are you calculating your mileage?
Can you tell me?
I've heard of several ways. The was I've done mine (stock 4dr 4x4 4.0), I get 10 MPG city----YIKES!!!!!
IT'S 140k AND RUNS FINE. I obviously need something checked if your lifted rig is getting way better than mine.

Just for sake of an answer...
Fill tank
Reset odometer
Drive till you need more gas
Fill tank
Divide miles driven by gallons used
And there you go...
For me it looks like 270 miles divided into the 15 gal. And you get 18mpg...

Volumetric measurements don't always work. Think of the analogy a pound of rocks vs a pound of feathers. The rocks are more dense than the feathers. Volumetric wise there are more feathers. Weight wise they are the same.

dude if your getting 10mpgs city in a 99; something is not right. Ive got 235 duratracs and i get 17-18 city. hell i get 16mpgs with it in 4x4. thats prolly wrong because of the 235 bein bigger and my speed is slightly off.
before i did all my exhaust work, tune-up,and 784 inj install i was getting 14 city and 17 highway. so all that ****e did make a huge diff. i also have new 02's

He'll yeah 235 dura tracs!! That's how I roll, man! Haha, anyways, I agree, it ain't runnin right if 10mpgs is all your getting.. Maybe an incorrect gauge? Map the milage from one gas station to the next, fill up at the first one and then fill up at second station and calculate the mpgs...? It's a thought..
Edit- I've run the gauntlet on new ignition, etc. parts... Worth it in the end...

Or....
Fill it all the way up. Before driving reset the trip odometer.
Next fill up check to see how many miles you went via the odometer, and compare to the amount of fuel the truck needed to get full with the miles you drove.
Divide the total miles driven by the gallons of fuel you needed. MPGs the easy, and smart way....no running outta fuel or any other inconvenience.

Isn't that the way of the world? Sorry you got robbed. People seem to ask questions and when they don't like the answer they fish for one they like... sucks for them. I'm gonna start ignoring their ignorance.
