fuel pump has no power already changed relay

 

What year is it? could be the fuel pump resistor.

 

1986 cherokee 2.5 4cyl TBI

 

Look on the left fender well in the engine compartment,see if there is a porcelin resistor,I am not familiar with the 2.5 but they are just a 4.0 less 2 cylinders so it may have one also. If it does make sure it is plugged in.

 

i did not find a porcelin resister the pump relay has 4 post one stays hot always another one goes hot after key is turned on and then the relay clicksbut still no power at plug going in the tank

 

Are you checking it at the same time the key is turned on?

 

yes but im testing it by myself with the key on does the pump only get power for 1-2 seconds or all the time

 

the post that comes on when the key is on i belive stays on for a few seconds. try to get one of your buddies or something to sit in it and turn the key for you. If thats fine check the plug at the pump and see if your getting power there. You may have a bad ground or broken wire
