Default Fuel Pump maybe?

I was driving my jeep tonight and hit a speed bump at like 30 (didn't see it) and when i hit it my jeep died and my gas gauge went to E. I had a half a tank prior to this. I put 3 gallon of gas in it thinkin maybe the float was stuck and the bump knocked it loose and showed the true level. After that still nothing we then tried listening for the fuel pump and didn't hear it running. Any suggestions to what could be wrong and if it is the pump wat am I getting into price and difficulty?

Thanks

What year is it? I would look for a connector or wire that is apart. I went to get a trany today and I hit a bump and it tried to die,hit another and it did,it was the cps connector, the tab broke awhile back I guess and it jiggled itself apart overtime.

If you loose power it will not show level,I would look where it enters the tank. If you have a volt meter you can check power to the guage with the key on,but you will not have power to the pump as it is only on for a few seconds until it starts.

Yes i would look at the connector on the full pump assembley the connector has the fuel pump wiring and also the fuel sensor wiring in the same plug.

If that fell off it would die and show E which is power off position.

So you think that it is my fuel pump that's causing it to not run and I have a wire loose showing no gas in the tank.

Yes the connector/plug that goes the the fuel tank unit has the fuel pump power wires along with the fuel level sensor wires in the same plug.

If that came loose or off it would do what you are saying is happening.

I think it is possible you have a connector or wire loose that is causing the problem, that is where I would start based on what you said.

Where is this plug located? I will check it tomorrow when I get a ride to it. The jeep died at the college parking lot.

it will be within 2-3 ft from your tank, just follow the wires from your pump you will run into it. Look for any broken wires, connectors, check for power.
