^ Groovy!

I still am kinda leaning toward a bad pump, but that's cause I'm a negative Nancy. Just because the parts box says new, doesn't mean it's any good.

Hi, not to highjack your thread, but I'm experiencing the exact same symptons -

spark, pump primes but NO fuel coming from the pump!

What was your result in the end?

I'm pulling my hair out with this

Did you change the fuel pump? If you install it yourself, make sure you get the poles correct because thats where my problem was. I rushed to get the fuel pump back into my jeep that when I hooked up the wires going to the pump motor I reversed the poles (neg on pos/pos on neg) that was my rookie mistake. But yeah, let me know how it goes or if you need any other advice. I've learned ALOT more about my Jeep since I've been putting more wrench time in and reading along this forum

No haven't pulled the pump. I had a few pinhole leaks at the bottom of the tank which i filled with J&B. Wanted to check state of tank at the top (and the floor) - ran fuel down (actually ran down till it stopped). It's just me tinkering with my jeep (no friends) and I wanted the tank 'light enough' for obvious reasons. Good news was top of tank was OK & bottom of floor was good too. Put tank back up after a couple days, (it had been hanging from drivers side fill up pipe) filled with 4 gallons of fresh fuel - now i have no start. No fuel reaching the filter but the pump primes, just not picking up fuel. BTW, my jeep is Left Hand Drive, 1988 Cherokee 4.0Litre, 4WD Auto, based in London UK

Hmm, I'd say get the fuel pump checked. Seems like you got power going to it being that you hear it priming up. Or theres a smaaaaaall chance that the lines from the pump to the filter is majorly clogged. But I don't think that's it. "Left Hand Drive" Jeep, sounds like the rest of us in the US. Unless you meant "Right Hand Drive" But yeah, everything should be the same. So yeah try to see if you can pull the pump and test it to see if the motors working. If not, then that should be the problem

Cheers 87p89lCherokee, i'll pull the pump tomorrow. Took off the fuel line (had never thought of the obvious!!!) but it was clear.
My jeep is LHD, (Californian import) just that in the UK they are all RHD, and none are Renix either, (Cherokees were not officially sold here till around 1994) so sourcing parts can be a pain - have to order from the States for sensors etc.
If i had done my research before i bought this cherokee i would never had bought a Renix
