Fuel Pump for a 96'
Search didn't come up with much. I'm looking for a fuel pump assembly for my 96' Cherokee 4.0L. My pump works fine, but the sending unit is bad for the gauge.
What's the verdict for 96' when finding replacements? The parts stores and Rock Auto don't sell them. I see a Crown fuel pump assembly but it's pretty pricy.

you can attempt the repair above, but I bought one just in case. they sell a bit higher than regular fuel pump assemblies because they're only for 96 as the pressure regulator was in the tank instead of on the fuel rail like the 95 and earlier. 97 and up use a different assembly because the tank changed to plastic.

I had this same problem. my assembly rusted and started leaking. I work at a shop so we called around to every parts store we could think of. We never found anything. As far as I know if you need the full assembly, the crown one is your only option. If its just the pump you might be able to get that by itself for cheaper.

Crown. I just used one. It has about 5k miles on it now. The quality was good. I was able to get it for $183 via amazon. Sometimes it is a little higher/lower than that.
