Default Fuel Pouring out like Niagara Falls!

I'm working on the Jeep this morning wiring up new fog lights, and I start smelling gas. I look back toward the rear driver side and see gas flowing out from behind the fuel filter (I think that's what it is) like a waterfall. Is this a sign that is time to change the fuel filter? lol

I added two pictures to show it was coming out from behind the round canister (which I am pretty sure is the fuel filter).

You are correct, that is somebody's hooptie attempt at a fuel filter. Go buy a Wix fuel filter ($15) and replace that plastic piece of crap!

In the mean time, you can pinch the soft line at the back of the "filter" to keep from dumping the contents of your tank in the driveway.

Thanks for the pic! I just order the WIX fuel filter off of Amazon for $16. Should have it on Saturday.

Old versus new. How lame is someone putting a small fuel filter on?

Bad omen, I say.
What other ways did the PO cheap out?
Time will tell.
This is why you only buy cars from wealthy middle aged politicians.

It's pretty lame. That plastic filter looks just like the one on my lawn mower. Good to see a proper Wix going in there, sad to see "China" printed all over it. SMH.

Who the hell installed a cheap plastic fuel filter on a high pressure fuel system?

I'm just glad it busted in my garage and not in the mountains.
