I had to replace the exhaust manifold and steering gearbox on my wife's 99 XJ. I noticed that all of the injectors were swollen and cracked. They were original so no surprise there. I did some searched and saw many suggestions to go to Trevor ( trevor.skankfootracing@gmail.com). Trevor had some bosch 12 hole. I reached out by email and he responded quickly. Got them paid for and received them 2 days later. Hard to beat that. Got them put in this morning. Decided to set a timer just for fun. 21 minutes from start to restarting the jeep. I did disconnect the battery leads and touched them together for a few minutes and even pulled the headlight switch. Started right up and ran great. Very pleased. The only issue is that the slots for the clips on the bosch injectors are not aligned for the jeep. I read some other articles so was prepared for that. So no clips on the injectors but the fuel rail is held solid with the 4 bolts so not worried there.
The slots are a lot closer to the top of the injector. If I put the clips back in , the injectors would be "longer" and you would need spacers between the fuel rail and the intake manifold. Maybe a project for a different day. It really doesn't seem worth the effort. If it ran higher fuel pressures, maybe it would be worth it. And yes, it is definteily faster since the injectors are red. This jeep is tubthumper (https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/reb...-apron-226647/) so needs some extra speed to get back up and keep going.
I just did a injector swap for a customers 2004 TJ using the 161s and I run them in my 97 TJ. I used the retaining clips on both installs. Great install pics, the timer is right about where it should be for the install time. Let me know when you want to add more power to your 99.
