sounds like a restriction or bad filter or filter was "stamped" backwards and you put it one wrong because they stamped it wrong......just throwing that out there.

damn I wish I would thought of putting the old one back in all ready threw it away
someone told me that my fuel trim is prolly off cause it was compensating for the bad filter. to just drive through it.
thoughts?
You may go fast, but I don't get stuck

If the filter arrow is pointing the right direction, it is unlikely the filter causing this.
Check fuel pressure with a gauge. You should have 31 psi at idle. Then disconnect the vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator (be darn sure that vacuum line is pulling good vacuum) and the pressure should jump to approximately 39 psi.
What is the status of tuneup hardware? Fresh champion copper plugs gapped to .035, new plug wires, distributor cap, rotor.

everything except for the cap and rotor are less than a month old, i didnlt have money at the time for the cap and rotor, and the the fuel filter took precedence, also i realized i didn't say this it runs good at idle it only does it once you press the gas and keeps getting worse till about 2500 till then it acts like it has a rev limiter.
sorry my dumbass fault for not telling ya prolly helps alot

Gotta verify fuel pressure as I outlined in post #9. This is the FIRST thing a technician would do if you brought it to a shop. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge, they can be rented for a few bucks from many of the big box parts stores; call around.
Spring for the new cap and rotor while you're at the parts store renting that fuel pressure gauge. Start there.

I changed cap and rotor. that helped a little. the fuel pressure was at 35 and 40. tje vaccum line has good suction.
how do I reset the computer?
