Default Fuel filter problems

Well guys I just bought a 1997 cherokee 4.0 4x4 with 143000 miles on it and I was conducting a tune up. Well I wanted to replace the fuel filter and can't find it anywhere I followed the hoses from the tank, looked up the schematics, and YouTube videos, and still not where they say it is... any ideas guys on where it could have been moved to or why it was removed.

The fuel filter (one of three) is part of the Fuel Pump Module inside of your fuel tank.

You mentioned you just filled it. If you drop the tank and if still full you need to get down to at least 1/4 tank for the weight. How you get rid of 3/4 tank depends on how you want to do it. Check the seal and see if it was installed incorrectly if replaced. Bleeping J has a good video on this and says you can do it tank installed but a PITA. How to remove a fuel pump.
