where is the fuel filter for my 98 xj??

 

It's part if the fuel pump its in the fuel tank you will have to drop the tank to get to it

Yeah but it's not hard to drop the tank just make sure you are out of gas

 

As already mentioned, 97 and newer, the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump ASSEMBLY, located inside of the gas tank.

However, replacement of this filter is NOT necessary or recommended unless testing and or symptoms point directly to it.

Do you have any symptoms? If not, then forget about it. You don't replace these filters preventively, as you did with older models.

 

like would it be bad to replace or somthing??? cuz i got this k&n filter

 

Are you talking about your K&N air filter? The original poster's thread is on a fuel filter.

 

..... He is the OP.. K&N makes more then Air Filters..

Aggie, I would not suggest replacing this filter.

 

I have never seen a K&N fuel filter for a 1998 4.0 fuel pump assembly. Don't think they make one, that is why I mentioned the air filter.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

 

Yup there is lol it's small tho. Since i grew up on trucks changing out the filter i thought to do this one. Lol so I bought one came in the mail. an it's like mini it's like half the size of ur xj key
