Default Front speaker

Hello, my front drivers side speaker makes no sound, pretty sure it's a bad wire/connection. How would I go about replacing this wire? Thanks in advance. P.S please be specific because I'm not good with car audio.
Stephen.

From what I heard the wires crackwhere the enter the door from all the bending as the door opens and closes. Jeep must use some cheap, stiff wire cuz it shouldnt break. The easiest thing to do would be to add a section of wire in the area of the break with somethin flexible that wont break over time.

if its a stock head unit then there might be a bad connection at one of the harnesses in the back. the more likley issue is, as aforementioned, the wiring/ wire harness at the drivers side door. get down there with a flashlight and jiggle some wires... neither of my fronts worked when i got mine, but with my aftermarket head unit they worked great. the one issue i still do have VERY randomly is that all 4 speakers will cut out and my subs will keep running. usually just opening the drivers door will fix it... just the cheap wires...

the basic breakdown of a stereo:
Head Unit: Brains
Wiring: Circulation
Amp: Heart
Sub: Lungs
As they say, you are only as strong as your weakest link. So if any of your components are bad, your sound quality will suffer.

It could be that the factory wires are broken in the door boot or behind the kick panels. It is common. Test your stereo by using a short pair of wires to jump it to a spare speaker just to make certain the stereo is in working order. Always best to be sure before you do a complete rewire.

Below is my write-up for running fresh wire to the door speakers, though you are probably familiar with doing the same, the door-jam boot can be troublesome because it is so tight around the factory wires.

-----------------------------------

In my '99 the speaker wires were wrapped with the other wires (power locks/windows/mirrors). The speaker wires broke in the boot, multiple times it would seem by the way the P.O. spliced it 4 times on 1 strand and 2 times on the other...

I started with a spool of 16gauge wire at the dash with the radio out, ran it within the dash (your route doesn't matter as long as the wire doesn't ride on anything that moves or is sharp) and to the kick-panel area. Keeping the wire on the spool until you are done entirely with that side will save you from cutting it too short and wasting the wire.

Using the old wire to pull my new wire through was impossible, so I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop the boot within the kick-panel as well as the boot between the door and the vehicle. The kick-panel boot is big as is goes into the sheetmetal but was so tight around the factory wiring that I couldn't slide anything through, so I VERY carefully punched a hole through the rubber portion above the original wiring and slid my 16gauge wire through it.

Then I fished it through the between-door boot and into the door. Give yourself plenty of slack in the wire thus relieving tension to lessen the chance of the new wire breaking. Then hook it up to whatever speaker you are running. Re-secure both boots, they mash in pretty easily and have a nice rim that rides the sheetmetal, and make certain they are seated well so that your wiring never touches bare metal.

Hook it up properly to the stereo and rinse and repeat on the other side and you are golden.

I had both front door speakers go out at different times. Both times the wire was broken at the speaker. It's the easiest thing to check. Good luck

I did use the search. A lot. I only found answers saying what was wrong, not a good description how to fix it. But then I got a good answer. Thanks for the help though

Glad I could help. There is tons of info here on the site, but tracking it down can be an adventure in itself.

Start tracking from the speaker itself and run through the wires... Its what I did when I had the same problem... Problem Solved!
