CMurder, does your front end shimmy only happen in a 2-3 mph range? I've had the same problem since lifting my 2000 XJ 5 years ago. I've been through many sets of tires and several alingments and it's always remained. One thing I've noticed is that it's worse when it's hot out. In the winter I hardly notice it at all, but on a 100 degree day (I live in Texas) it gets really bad, especially in a minor left curve. If I hit a pothole in a left curve on a hot day then it goes into full-blown death wobble that doesn't stop until I get down to about 30mph.

You need to check the same type stuff as Cmurder does. Trackbar bushings and control arm bushings are the chief cause of DW in an XJ. They are easily cured with new bushings and since tires and alinement have been eliminated these are the only things left. You can check the welded in areas of the frame/unibody for increased wear at the bolt holes too, but that is rare as is the welded box coming loose but it has happened.

Hot and cold affects rubber bushings. They will be stiffer in the cold and softer in the heat. Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the strackbar bushings and tie rod ends for play.

Thanks. Bushings are what I suspected with the temp changes. Maybe I'll just do a whole eurethane set.
