Front right Wheel Problem!! Help... Stranded.
Okay, so after a day of fun...
Drove down the railroad and the rocks slipped from under me and my whole Jeep slid down the rocks into a MUD ditch, where my whole driverside was grounded on the mud.
Had my 25ft chain thrown over the tracks and my buddy had his 20ft chain and we yanked my jeep over the tracks, luckily my exhaust wasn't ripped out.
I then felt something bobbing in my wheel.
It was clicking on my body every bump...
I was told it's fine, and my tie-rod bent to ****, but was fine to drive.
I then went mudding in a swamp and on the way there I felt HUGE vibrations and knew something was wrong.
I then left later on with 2 inches of a mud layer on my jeep./
I then drove home about 10miles with no problem, I then went and picked my girlfriend up another 10miles and I felt huge vibrations and my whole jeep was shaking.
We made it about 5miles, and I pulled off and noticed one of my studs broke off...
I drove 2 more miles and pulled off and 3 were missing...
I parked it only having 2 studs left.
I went back the next day and replaced all the studs and lugs after spending 4$ a lug at Oriley's...
I put them back on and tightened it them all..
I made it 200ft when the same thing happened and one broke off.
My theory is, something is broke making the Jeep shake and causing the wheel to wiggle and snap the studs off.
What could cause the problem?
Would my Tie-rod being bent make my wheel shake?
My buddy told me it may be my Ball joint?
I'm not sure.
My baby is stuck a few miles away parked, and I want it home...
Going to go rent a Tow dolly, and get it home.

tie-rod being bent is NOT ok. your alignment is probably so out of whack that the vibration it is causing makes the lugs break off (maybe bent wheel). get a new tierod Or straighten the one on there and get an alignment. then see how it works.

You may have bent the front end altogether plus the mud in the rims is not helping things either. I would bring it to a shop and see whats bent and if it can be fixed if not get another front rear from a JY for $250...Tj

Okay, well I'll start by replacing the Tie rod, and if that's not the problem I'll have someone look at it.
Does Autozone/Orileys sell Tie-rods?

btw 200 ft lbs is WAY WAY to much for the wheel studs/lug nuts you only need to go about 100-110 at max.
and i had my entire jeep slide on me like that once and i bent the track bar and broke a lower control arm mount the whole axle was shifted over about 8 inches to the passenger side... check to make sure all of you control arms are fine (they are only stamped steel) and yes a bent tie rod is not acceptable to drive on.
Also clear the mud out of all of your tires and the vibes will be minimal. You will need to get the balanced since you drove on them like that for that many miles when you get an alignment.

Should I do this upgrade?
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/zj-...upgrade-22717/
someone on CL found me looking for a new tie-rod and found this saying to do this.
I just want to make sure this would work on my 98 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 4.0.
I'll look into that aswell. I'm not the best person to look at problems, I'm not too car-smart. I know just the basic's and about 4 months in an auto programs worth.

Okay bought the tie-rod upgrade kit, so going to go do that now.
I was told again it was probably not the thing causing the vibrations.
Any other ideas on that?

Any chance of some pictures of the front axle from side to side and maybe from behind the front wheels looking forward? Axle and all?

I would of, but I just finished doing the tie-rod upgrade.
It worked
Now I just need to get some new springs.
