Question Front Lower Shock mount question

Hi All,
Has anyone welded shock mounts to the shock perch like this?
Are there any warnings, pro's, con's, issues, concerns with doing this?

The problem is I ordered 12" Bilstein 5150s and installed them and notice I have very limited up travel.
If I weld thes mounts on there it looks like I would have an inch and a half more up travel.
does that sound like something worth wile doing to keep the 12" shocks or should I contact eshocks and see about swapping them for a smaller shock?

thanks

i would see about getting shorter shocks but they aren't going to straight swap you because you installed them already

true!
if I call and they are willing to help what length you think I should get?

ALSO
I just had another weird idea.!
would it be possible to take and use my old BPE's and let the shock bottom drop through the hole and mount the square blocks on the under side instead of on the top side of the lower shock mount point???
thanks

Some one said they had 10" ones on a LA kit and they where good.
but 89Eliminator had said he used 12" ones and i would be good with those.
and they also have 11" shocks as well

thanks for setting me straight.
I don't really wanna mickey mouse anything if I don't have to.

flex it out and measure compressed and extended. you really cant tell what shock size to get without measuring. every rig is different and with regard shocks you actually will have to measure your own rig to figure out what you need.

true that was the problem I had, I could not find a way to flex it out...
now I have shocks I can drive somewhere they un bolt them then flex, but man what a PITA
there maybe another way like I did the rear.
I can jack up till the tire comes off the ground to get extended.
then I can calculate me compressed length?

thanks

whatever you want to do. sounds like you don't want to put in the work to fix your issue and would rather mickey mouse it.

i know I come off that way huh!
I just have been waiting for stuff and building and working on this forever and just want to be done already to enjoy driving it.
you know what I am saying.
I am thinking I will "try my best" to flex tomorrow then contact eshocks and tell them i measured wrong and see what goes on.
maybe there is a shipping fee and a restocking fee, but I will have to deal with that to get it all right and not be mickey moused.
