Default Front leaf spring bolt dilemma

Hi all,

The front bolt for the leaf spring was a huge PITA so I decided to grind the whole thing in two. Half of the bolt just came out, but the other half (that goes to the frame) is totaly stuck in place.

I since cut that excess bolt down as much as possible in the shackle and tried to hammer it out but it won't budge.

What are my options? I cant get anything on to turn it, hammering it out doesn't seem to work (i've only tried with hand tools). And getting it out will just leave it in the frame from what i've seen(?) since there's no hole that i can get it out of?

I've been soaking it in PB blaster for around 1-2 weeks now and well, that train has long since passed.

Here's a picture how it looks. As you can see the bolt is stuck against the frame, there's nothing to grip with any kind of tool. So.....do i start cutting up the frame now?

Yes drill out center ,then tap new threads then insert heli coil and new bolt. Theres other ways im just not fond of cutting the frame up or using a torch on my vechicles. This is the direction id go. Some have cut holes in floor board also and broke the nut off from its welds ,then reweld a new nut on frame.

Alright - never heard of a heli coil before that's why I got confused....but what's the point of that? Won't just repairing or drilling new threads into the existing hole be enough?

Ah right, so you drilled a bigger hole and then put the heli coil as new threads? Is it just as easy as it sounds?
