Hi. I'm planning on getting the alignment that another shop said they did. Before I do I think there's some other things that need to be addressed (I only want to do this once). I believe one of the things is called the drag or center link but it doesn't look like AZ, AAP, or NAPA carry anything. Am I calling it the wrong thing?
Also I think the other parts pictured are I believe the tie rod ends. Which ones do I need? The one that's attached to the "drag link" looks like it was replaced by PO.
Thanks for any help

A buddy from work who's got a ton of experience went over the front end for tightness and said the ball joints were good. We jacked up the truck and used a bar under the wheel and pried side to side. That was same checkout where we picked up the bad axle hub assy's (which we replaced).

check your balljoints, and hubs. then if all that looks good and dandy and everything is tight, check your track bar bolts, if they are a little loose it will make a worse ride b/c the axle will want to move more.

Yeah we did the hubs a few weeks back. This week I installed a new track bar. Didn't want to mess with the castle nut while it was on the truck, so took the whole mount down. Gave me a chance to clean it up, paint it, and make sure the new castle nut was torqued right. Then yesterday I drilled out the new sleeve on the axle end to 7/16's and put in a Gr. 8 bolt and nut (tightened that connection right up and believe me....it WAS loose).

I think they are outer tie rod end, inner TRE, and drag link. Some auto parts stores call them different names...look at their diagrams on the computer to make sure you get the right part. The first two are screw-in parts and not expensive. The last is a $100 item. The TRW is the same as Moog and much less money.

Those are the Tie Rods. The Left outer end and Right outer end (Draglink or Long tie rod). XJ's have 4, 1 at the pitman arms, Draglink, Left inner and Left outer.

Best money you'll spend on the front end. Don't waste money getting an alignment done by a shop. You can do the alignment yourself in the driveway in 15 minutes for free.
