Front end clunk on take off
I have some sort of clunking in what seems my front passenger axle side. You can feel it tapping the body it seems, and I have acquired a slight shake at around 40 mph. The clunk is very loud and only when starting to accelerate. It started after I pulled the motor to replace it. Everything is connected, but my upper control arm has some play at the hiem joint at the body. My u joints are new in my drive lines, my motor and transmission mounts are all new. Any ideas? I’m thinking either a wheel bearing or my axle u joints are going bad. It sounds like a u joint on the driveline but it feels up front. I have no front drive shaft in at the moment. 96 Xj with a Dana 30 HP. The tie rods are slightly worn which could be the start of my shake but the clunk wouldn’t be the tie rods. Nothing has play in it besides the control arm. Ive tried making the bolts tighter but no effect

I would start by checking all of your u-joints. front wheels and all the ones in your drive line front and rear. They can start making a very similar clunking noise when they start to go bad.
