Default Front End Clunk on 99 XJ 2WD

I have a new/first Jeep (99). I am having some front end clunk when I turn the steering wheel from side to side. It isnt necessarily at lock to lock, but rather about center, when I switch from left to right motion (most of the time I am driving).
I had my wife turn the wheels and I couldnt see and jumping or clunking, with the exception of the track bar (end that attached to frame) rising slightly vertical.

Is there something I should look at first? Is there a known "common" failure on these? it is a 2WD.

Thanks Dan

I'd take a close look at all the steering components (tie-rods, drag link) and make sure all the boots are whole (un-ripped) and then the bushings at the sway bar link (at the end links and the frame mount), shocks (top and bottom) and control arms and make sure they're not cracked or loose. Also check that all the hardware is nice and tight (especially on shocks and sway bars) If nothing jumps out, then I'd jack it up and see if you can feel any looseness in any of the above items.
A "clunk" is typically associated with a loose shocks, but often sway bar links are similar.

Check it out and let us know. If you're unsure of anything, pictures are helpful.

Mine did this when the track bar axle mount hole rounded out, I had to drill it out to 1/2" and put a new bolt in.
