Default Dying engine sounds

Im just curious on what a dying jeep engine would potentially sound like... Yes yes dumb question and maybe post but i know rod knocks and such but what about ticky lifters or a squeak at idle that isnt the belt. The more and more i dig into my jeep the more stuff i find is so frickin bad im shocked its driving straight. And i started my engine and had like a rattly sound the first few seconds and has since gone away.

Rattle during startup may just be the oil filter anti drain back valve. I used to have start up rattle on my Grand Marquis using a Motorcraft filter eliminated it. Try a mopar oil filter and see if goes away, Napa gold filters are also good.

The rattling sounds like the normal 4.0 lifter tick, mine rattles when I first start it then it goes away in a couple minutes.

alright. I guess im paranoid lol i start it and when its cold everything sounds amplified tho at certain rpms theres a tapping as well and may be the lifters as well. Oil pressure at cold start is like 50 to 60 and hot hot idle is like id say 13 psi? idk it goes right above the first tick on the oil gauge but havent mechanical gauged it yet

That's pretty normal for oil pressure, I wouldn't worry about it.

A bad water pump will also sometimes sound like the motor is about to rattle apart. It could also have a higher pitch metal on metal sound.
