Default Clunk clunk clunk when I turn

Greetings fellas. At low speed when I make a hard left or right I get pretty serious clunk clunk clunk sound consistent with the rotation of the wheel. Thoughts? It does not happen when the front wheels are not turned

Time to start doing some checking.
Get underneath and have a mate turn the steering wheel while you insepct for play in the steering components.
Then lift the front wheels and grab the wheels, move them back and forth and up and down, checking for play/knocking.
Pockets's suggestions are good ones.

My first thought was u-joint. Grab the front drive shaft and twist it, look at the front left wheel. If you have excessive play you can see or hear the axel move, then its a u-joint.

An easier way might be to jack up the front end on both sides so you can turn them, and turn the wheel full lock, and then spin your wheel. Should be able to narrow it down pretty quickly.

Had to get new tires and the clunk is gone. Go figure the tread was slightly unevenly worn but I didn't think it'd be enough to make a difference but apparently it did!

My old gambler wheels and tires did the same thing... I don't know why either.. they had 5.5 bs and were 235/75-15... I put new wheels / tires on and it went away..strangest thing.
