Well. I'm going after my right hand U-joint on my 90 with a dicso. Gave the bolts a squirt a few weeks ago. 6 pm Thursday, changing into "grungy(er)" jeans. What size 12 point?

Thanks OleBlue. Just figured that out. (coffee break), Got a 12 pt 3/8 drive, but the 1/2 drive I have is six point.
. At least with the rotor off I can squirt the other ends of the hub bolts so they can soak while I look in the barn for a 12 point, 13mm 1/2 inch drive. (3/8 seems to be right for the caliper..)(on this 90)(I remember now, I changed the caliper bolts to normal hex last year)

The 13mm box end and a small hammer easily got the first two. The third rear did free as well. The LONG 3/8 extension in the froward hole popped the hub right out. Engine running. (It didn't go easy without power). So...I had company and a few breaks. With a 1/2 inch drive 13mm 12 point, a little over an Hr might be a time to have it out.

Ha! Yea. maybe the first few. This, I can do in my sleep. (thanks to a friend on my deck). I DID notice the oil that ran out was black as coal though.

Funny! Actually frustrating though if you don't know you have it! Parent's watch for that and ADD. The up side, once you turn something inside out and right to left three times to see it right, you see it pretty well! (if you stop flipping it around at the right place)

Yessr! Only one vice today. Bolted to the deck. (that be the helper). I figure the job is as good as done. I'll post again if something odd turns up. Just thought I'd share popping the command-track hub and and outer axle. Long 3/8 extension in the front hole (and a 1/2" drive 12pt 13mm), and its a piece of cake.

SheeZ! My hat is off to anyone who did that U-Jiont on the trail or the side of the road via: the "BFH" method! Onary booger. Two of the four clips, couldn't get at the ends. No sliding it after 20+ years. Used a chisel to "bite" a little ways up. No Big there,. But!. man got it hot enough to melt that plastic ring, and STILL, no love driving both caps one direction. Solid..wouldn't budge. Had to "span" the open vise on the ears and drive the other section down to move one at a time. (see photo). AND, going in even toasty hot...allot of tappen and whacking AS WELL as the vise. Was so hard was afraid of bending something. A bunch of pressure AND a whack to gain ground. I've done countless U-joints, an never needed to "go to the mat" like that. Don't know what to say. I don't know it I would want it hotter. I didn't put the caps in the freezer first, maybe I should have.
All's well that ends well!
