Front axle plate?

Front axle plate?
This plate is located in the back side of my front axle (d30) it is leaking and I suspect also taking in water. Can anyone identify it's name ite tell me what it's there for?

It looks like its a CAD block off. My guess is someone "locked" your front axle or swapped in a solid shaft, removed the CAD actuator, fabbed up a block off plate. Just remove the plate, clean it and the housing up, and reseal and install it. Make sure you use all the bolts though or it will leak again.
