Just tried to do this on my 96. Took a little coaxing to get the release button depressed, and now its stuck. Any ideas? Don't want to break it. I'll take another look in the morning.

I had the same problem, but moving the plunger back and forth and tapping the side of the housing for the button made it pop back up.

Start the jeep up, as it warms up it will be more willing to move, just remember to turn it off before doing the WOT part.

Did anyone get that additional info? Like what you had to do under the vehicle?

At the beginning it says that he put the replacement instructions up just in case you need them. Adjustment is the last step of the replacement instructions. I was just trying to help anyone that needed a little explanation. It helped me.

You don't do anything to the tranny unless you replace it.

I read about this in the morning, drove to work so I could note how it shifted, then did the adjustment at lunch. Fan-freaking-tastic.
