The XG fram series of oil filters have one of the best anti drain back valves now. As for the plain jane fram oil filters there ok on most vehicles but i run mopar on my jeep

Then upon start-up you have a "dry start" where momentarily you have no oil, only air, being fed to your engine.

This critical ADBV coupled with media that comes apart, the glue on the media failing, the number of posts seen on the forums where a simple change from Fram to a high quality filter eliminated oil pressure problems and engine ticks, and generally substandard filtration is enough to keep me far away from these filters.

The poor construction, especially the ADBV quality which is a known issue, that has never been improved/fixed/addressed by the Fram company is not impressive.
My filter is not upside down. It is horizontal.

[QUOTE=944.0;1781185]My filter is not upside down. It is horizontal.

Then it will only be HALF empty versus being full............

I guess that's twice as good as being totally empty. For me, I'll opt out on anything Fram and go with proven filters.

I really don't see why this keeps coming up. It's only a couple of dollars more per oil change to go with something that hasn't been shown, time and time again, to be total crap. Sure some people have success but if a unit has a 30% failure rate, having personal experiences in the 70% doesn't make it any less risky. I've never personally gotten salmonella poisoning but I'm not going to stop washing my hands after handling raw meat because soap is a whole dollar and all the other people I know don't wash their hands either... lol

Fram is not a bad filter. If you don't like it, don't use it. Its that simple. I personally use Napa Gold cause I her them at cost but have used Fram on my 4.0 and my 4.2 without any issues.
