Default Fluid in t case.

I lost my driveline and the slip yoke dropped out and it looked like ATF that came out? I have 5 speed with a 231 t case. Do these share lube or are they seperate? And what it the proper fluid for t case/ trans.

Just fill the t-case till it starts to run out the fill hole (not the drain hole...that would be silly).

DO NOT put Automatic Transmission Fluid into your manual tranny.

Thanks for clarifying that to the OP.

And OP, the transfer case drain and fill plugs are on the BACK of the transfer case.

Any quality ATF will work fine in the t-case.

I've found that if you use the same ATF in your TC as in your Transmission it avoids confusion (possible mix-up between TC and Tranny) as well as just having one ATF in your stash.

Dex III/Mercon is the suggested ATF for both. If you are using ATF+4 in your Tranny, you know what to do.
