I need to replace my factory exhaust due to Age/rust/leaks and also because i have a Ported TB and a K&n FIPK (99 Intake manifold soon). So far i have decided on a Magnaflow universal 2.25" cat i guess its high flow (arnt most aftermarket cats?) And then just replacing my stock muffler with a original 40 series. Most of my driving is highway (about 100 miles a day) and between 2-2,500K Im cerious to hear from all of you that have them? Is the drone bad? is it something that is gonna keep my daughter awake when she is in the car? I know they have the delta series but there almost 100 a piece and i think i would just get a 30$ Turbo style if i had to go that route.....Im trying to do this on a budget. So tell me what you think.

I have the Super 40 and absolutely love it. It isn't really as loud as you would think. It produces a nice, deep throaty sound. It was definitely worth the $100.
my 95 has 2 1/4 pipe,no cat and a flowmaster with a tailpipe out the back. Not sure which one,it was on it when I got it.It's not too bad when you are cruising. If you get into it,you can definitely hear it.
I was gonna replace the flowmaster with a quieter muffler but it's growing on me.

The 40 series is not too loud w/tailpipe. Without tailpipe yes. I had to take the tailpipe off when I installed a JKS rear shock crossmember. Also is quieter with carpet in, obviously. Just my experiances with it.
Currently have a Hooker Aero Chamber muffler on it and it sounds great. I also use my jeep for DD and carry my kids in it. Ages range from 21months-6 years.

I have a 40 series on mine, no cat, its a single in dual out with turn downs. My stock muffler was rattling and driving me up the wall so i bought this one off a guy at work for 10 bucks...it is VERY loud almost too loud but i like loud. I carry my duaghter of 9 months from time to time but with the windows up air on its not to horrible. For longer trips tho it gets annoying. But what i did was took a brake kleen can cut it in half and put it on one of the outlets with a hose clamp. Quiets it down ALOT.

I have 2.5" pipe from the cat. inlet to the bumper. I have a Flow Master Super 40 muffler. My XJ is my DD and Weekend Warrior. I think I once heard a quote from a very good source that goes like this..."If it's too loud, then you're too old".
Seriously, my exhaust has a nice throaty sound to it. Doesn't start to sound riced out unless I have it up around 5K on the tach. So far, I've only had to do that a couple times when going up hill in deep slushy wet snow.

I will not use any other muffler on my Jeep but a Flowmaster due to how much abuse mine has seen in the 6 years it has been on my Jeep. It is a 40 series and is not too loud I also have a full length header and no carpet. It is still used as a DD even though my Ram is more comfortable, which also has a Flowmaster 40 series with dual outlets.
