Finally putting in the SYE
Maybe I'm not the greatest at searching but I'm looking for a writeup on installing a SYE into my 01 cherokee. I've had the parts for about a year and now its finally time to get it done.
I hear I can use a front driveshaft from an automatic cherokee without any problems?
Is it easier to pull the transfer case out or just pull it apart under the xj?
Also, if anyone knows any good writeups on installing a sye for the NP321 I would really appreciate it.
This is my first post although I've been a member for over a month and a reader for several years.
Thanks guys!

You will need to pull the transfer case out of the XJ They come apart in a fairly straight forward manner. Just use silicone to seal it back up.

Putting in a sye is actually pretty easy, at least it was for me. If you can try to use a car lift helps out a ton. As far as pulling the t-case out its a 50/50 flop. Some would say pull it out as for me and others leave it in and split the case with it up inside. Also make sure you mark the speed sensor so you know which way it went on, I didn't and had to take it off and find the correct position.

I've seen this pretty interesting write up of making SYE + Driveshaft...under $100.00... Check it: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=959008
