i am looking into getting a 1990-1996 cherokee, i am new to jeeps and am wondering if there is anyhting i should look for when i go to look at the jeeps. any known issues jeeps have that i may need to check on the ones i am going to see? basicly just looking for basic probs that most jeeps have and how to find out if they have them, any help will be great

The 90 xj had the old cooling sytem that had alot of problems. They are great jeeps outside of that and the system can be upgraded or taken care of and work ok. in 91 chrysler took over the jeep line and made many changes to the motor and control system,91 was the first year of the high output motor, they also upgraded the cooling system, which is alot better. In 95 they added drivers side air bags.
I have an 89 but I think in the range you are looking the 91-96 offer the best engine performance, and safety.

No they switched from the renix fuel injection system to the chrysler multi fuel injection system, they also made alot of changes to the motor, like better head, intake and exhaust manifolds, better cam that allowed them to get rid of the egr valve. They also made the throttle body bigger.
