Default Fenders after trimming

I recently took off my stock Cherokee fenders and am thinking about trimming them, but I'm wondering is it still possible to install aftermarket fenders even after the trimming has been done?

Are you talking about the flares or the actual fenders? Fenders you just bolt on either way. Depending on how much you trim the flares you can do also.

Fender trimming is required to fit any aftermarket flares that I can think of. That includes TJ flares, and especially Bushwakkerz.

Hold on Edward Scissorhands! You might want to trim after buying the flares that you want. At the very least, trim only the minimum you need for the clearance you need until you get your flares. Each type of flare requires a different amount of trimming & you don't want to cut too much then realize that you have cut off the mounting surfaces need for your flares. For example, BW's need more sheet metal removed than my TJ flares - and mine are installed all the way up to the body line. Can't speak for Rusty's flares.

I trimmed mine, I hated the look of the cut angles so I modded the stock flares and put them back on. I wouldnt cut on them until I had some flares to go by.

Anything I have has had the body whacked on. All 3 of my fourwheelers are shaved also.

I was thinking about cutting just above where the fenders kind of flare to where they're about flat. Only about 1.75 inches...or possibly just below the flare so that the oem mounting holes are gone, but there is still a slight flare, probably about 1/4 - 1/2 inch.

Well for flare options you're likely looking at anything but BWs. They need more trimming than 1.75".

If you know what flares you want look up instruction on line. You should be able to get em and have the cuts where you need em to work with the aftermarket flares.

What are a decent set of semi-cheap flares? I don't want anything bulky or extravagant like bushwackers, just the bare minumum.

For "cheap" flares - well I went with TJ flares. Cost me about 50 bux all told, and I installed the rears myself. I dunno what Rusty's cost, but BWs ... well cheap is not the word .

You can see mine here. Red one's mine.

How much trimming can I do and still install the TJ flares?
