Fender Flare Troubleshoot
.......Removed the front to flares to paint the bumper.....big mistake....things are a pain in the butt to get back on....

I took mine off because I wanted them off and snapped almost every tiny bolt holding them on. I can't imagine putting them back on with the rear metal assembly, you have to have a lot of patience.

I always end up snapping the bolts too. I use 2 inch long stove-head bolts and wedge the square head part into the rubber of the flare. The add a small piece of duct-tape to hold the bolt in. Align the bolts with the holes in the XJ and twist on fresh lockwashers and nuts.
Works every time.
Have fun once they rust though. lol. Its a one time deal pretty much.

Oh jeez, use some zip ties. They'll hold them aligned with the screw holes and when you rip the flare off on the trail the zip ties will shear before you damage your fenders. Carry a few along for quick & easy repair.
