Feedback in steering wheel
I first would like to say I did do a search for my issue. I don't have any D.W. issues with my 2000 sport. I get feedback in my steering wheel only when I am slowing down and turning or if I turn after I have completely stopped. The sway bar bushings and sway bar links are new on it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure what you mean by "feedback" Does the wheel jerk back the opposite way when turning? Could be restriction in the power steering system, back check valve in the steering pump.
On the mechanical side of this, perhaps the track bar is worn or loose where it attaches to the front diff on the lower right side.
Just throwing out some ideas

could be CV joints, also I had a similar jerky steering issue on my company car (I know this isn't completely relevant to Jeeps) and it turns out that apparently I had two bent front rims! Guess the guy that had the car before me must have hit something big, or else one of those stealth snow-covered potholes was harder on the car than I thought! Fortunately I found a garage that was able to both diagnose the problem and deal with the fleet management people and now the car drives great again.

How hard was it to change out a complete shaft? Was the ujoint not turning/spinning when your son was turning steering wheel? Just want to know what to look for when I troubleshoot it. Thanks for your help!

I just put it up on jacks and turned the steering wheel and spun the front tires. The passenger tire spun freely, but the driver side would spin then kinds bind up then spin again. Is it safe to say that the axle shaft ujoint is going/gone?

I'm having a similar problem in my 98. I get some slight back and forth movement of the wheel when turning. Alignment is fine and I've had no death wobbles. I also hear some ticking if I'm turning sharply at a low speed. What could cause this?
