Default fan rubbing

I have a 96 xj se and my left fan is rubbing the power steering box area. It doesnt have front end damage and never has. I would like to either put another oem fan in there and then plug it into a relay with a switch or put a new fan or taurus fan in there as well.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix the problem without replacing the fan? If I have to replace the fan then I will have to replace it, but I may still have the same issues with rubbing.

Pic? I'm not seeing how that is possible with stock parts. Did someone put some sort of ill-fitting aftermarket fan or radiator in there?

i second the motor and tranny mounts check those. i broke my engine mount on the passenger side and put the fan through the radiator and bent all my blades so could just be broke on the other side.
if thats not it id just take the fan out. iv run without mine before with no problems

Here's something else that may help with the problem: When sitting at a light is when I hear it rubbing, but when I put it in neutral or park the sound/rubbing goes away (this is probably b/c the fan is switched off by the system).
When I installed the new motor mounts, the directions said I should probably put in a new trans mount. The new brown dog's work great with no slop.

Putting in neutral motor moves back .Power brake the motor and see what happens make sure you set parking brake first and look from sides never from the front...

So I should start it, set the e brake and maybe chock the tires, then look at the profile of the engine and see if its rubbing the fan. Then put it in neutral and look at it the same way. If it moves forward and backward based on drive and neutral, then what could it be... trans mount possibly?

On my 94 the mechanical fan would make contact with the radiator under acceleration. Driver and passenger motor mounts were shot causing the passenger side motor mount to block bracket bolts to shear off. (PIA, YUP!) Fixed block mounts, put in brown dog mounts and no problems since. Except maybe that I use the skinny pedal a little more freely. Now. Ha!
