fan pulley studs
So, as some may know, my fan came off the pulley and went through my radiator. It ripped out 3 of the 4 studs that hold it on, and i was wondering if i would be able to replace them with bolts with some thread-locker on them instead of installing new studs, which i don't have the experience or know-how to do. Pics to come soon.

man, **** happens, eh.....might as well just delete that heavy beast!!! remove the crappy electric and install dual 16"ers with manual over ride switch - much better cooling, and lighter load on the engine - get a good quality 2 row copper core rad with steel tanks, and silicone inlet/outlet hoses....good to go.

I like that idea of the two electric fans... Any idea what fans I should get? Like off of what car would be a good fit? I'm hittin up the junk yard tomorrow to get a diff radiator. Maybe I'll give em back the fan and clutch I took as well and find another electric to put on there.

ford taurus fans - lots of skinny s-shaped fins - check the space behind your rad....i believe it's ~18" tall x 35" wide.....so 2 x 16" fans is what you are looking for...pretty much a good blade configuration.... this is what you can buy ..... http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html/x-treme.html

So if i do the electric fans, I'd have to get a new serpentine belt that's shorter, right? cuz if i do the exlectric fans, i want to eliminate the need for that pulley. If i have to have the pulley on though, i'm gonna have to get new studs anyways, and may as well just keep it with the mechanical fan.

Whoa those flex-a-lite fans are expensive. I installed a Taurus fan with a stock aux fan next to it, it pulls so much air and i love it. The whole shebang was like $120 and pulls 2500 cfm on low and over 4000cfm on high!!! i dont even use high unless im on the trail
You do have to have to remove the mech fan pulley and get a different belt. I had to punch out the rod that the fan spun on and cut down the fan bracket to make room. Also had to cut the alt bracket alittle bit to clear the belt in its new route. Make a shroud underneath to funnel air thru the rad and do up the wiring. I took me like an afternoon to do it all and never looked back
Totally recommend this!

you can use bolts but...it will be a pain to hold the pulley and the fan clutch and get the bolts started...and they can come out the back side very far either........

Alright, I'm still up in the air about the fans, but i went back to the junkyard today and exchanged my radiator. They just got a new Cherokee and it had what looked like a brand new radiator that had a little sticker on top that said performance radiator. win!!! I'm going back for a taillight and sidemarker, and I'll probably grab a Taurus fan. Any particular year I should look for?
