I replaced the crank sensor, which involved a lot of time recovering a bolt that I dropped into the transmission.
Sounds like no one thinks much of the chinese sensors, but it's installed now so I'll see how it goes.
The sensor replacement did not however fix my no start problem.
I switched out the ASD relay with a new one—what’s strange is it starts 3 out of 4 times now, instead 1 out of 5. Could be this didn’t affect anything and it just decided to start more often now. I’m not sure but it did this right after putting the new relay in.
In any case, thanks everyone for all the helpful suggestions.
Any ideas on what I should check next?
To recap:
Fuel pressure seems good, crank sensor replaced, fuel pump and ASD relays replaced. It seems to malfunction much less often now. Other than that, problem is the same—it immediately dies after starting.

Ok so the ASD terminals are snug, And rerplacing the ASD relay now makes it start more often then not, so that;s progress. Or total coincidence lol.
Nothing more challenging than intermittent electrical issues.
To answer a previous question, If you wan, you can bypass the NSS for now, to see if it makes a difference, Its what I have currently set up in mine after sorting out a no start issue.
Youtubes available, simple jumper in the connector.in the engine bay. If you do this, be aware though that if it starts, it will start in any gear selection, so be careful.

Curious if you tried bypassing the NSS yet,
Its a 5 min job (actually 2.5 minutes, but it always takes twice as long as someone says it will take. Unless you break a bolt, in which case it becomes a three day ordeal, but no bolts involved in this one
)

This problem has been plaguing this forum for years. And for me the past 6 months. . .
I've replaced the following parts, Crank PS, Cam PS, Fuel Pressure regulator, ASD relay, Fuel Pump and of course Fuel Filter.
Finally took it to a good Jeep shop and they replaced the CPS. Ran for about 15 miles then it died last nite. We walked home in the night..
The final symptoms are pretty much a few detectable studders, followed by an almost engine shutdown. Then it quits with a big wheeze.
Another possible problem that might have merit was relayed to me regarding a chaffing wire bundle behind the dash. I havent seen this one addressed here before. Maybe some others have some insight.

After some browsing around, I found this: Walker Products 235-1213 Crankshaft Position Sensor. Its for the 91-92 4.0.
What caught my eye is the wiring to connector is three wires round not flat like all these ce knock offs.
I'm picking one up from CARiD

At the risk of beating a dead horse, I would revisit those initial Chinese parts replacements, just because you replaced a Chinese TPS for example, & then moved on, does not mean the part is not faulty & in mindset you think just because you changed it, that can no longer be the issue.....speaking from experience............There's good reason why cruiser54 asked if the coil had "Marelli" on it.......

Yes.
I bought a coil for one of my riding mowers off Amazon. It lasted 3 hours.
I bought a fuel pump for another mower off Amazon. Bad right out of the box. This is in the last 3 days!!!
Great fun doing those jobs twice along with the diagnosis needed.
And, Jeep did use Marelli coils in the early years of the HO. They were prone to failure. That's why I mentioned it.
I'd rather install a 25 or 30 year electrical part on my Jeep than a "new" one.
Thanks you guys. This is all very helpful.
I have my jeep back now and it's been running fine ever since I drove it to so the shop. I guess I'll just wait for it to act up again...
I thought maybe the crank sensor or relays I replaced needed a 20 minute drive to reset, or adjust, or something like that. Is that possible?

Ha...Anything is possible with these Jeeps, sometimes I think they have a mind of their own....They sure know how to drive you crazy !!!!... As a side bar, I have a 98 Civic that I've owned for 18 years...oil changes, brakes, tires, & exhaust....Oh & plugs once.....It never asked for anything else, just keeps on going like the energizer bunny......lol....
