Default Factory roof rack strength

I want to put my Yakima ski & snowboard rack accessory on my factory rack rails which can be done with an adaptor accessory I beleive....

Can the factory rack rails handle this?

They seem kind of flimsy... but could simply just need some tightening, havn't checked yet.

Thanks!

I think that a ski/snowboard rack will be fine. There are several members on here that strap an oversized off road spare tire up there with out any issues. Other than a tire acts like a giant parachute and murders the fuel mileage.

I have a rack that I got off of ebay and it is clamped onto the roof rack cross rails. any time I do wiring on my lights i jump up there and sit on it and stand up and all and no problemos! its their arcing design, helps distribute the weight to the rails

I'm more concerned w/ the fact that w/ a snowboard clamped in, a lot of up-force (opposite of down-force lol) will be created putting a lot of stress on the factory rack mounting points.

Just wanted to make sure before I went hauling *** at 90mph down the highway with a bunch of snowboards unsafely strapped to the roof!

The manual says 125lbs max for the roof rack, IIRC.
