Question Factory fog light switch wiring

Ok, before I am bashed or stoned from adding to the enormous amount of threads about this, i could not find my answer and I was looking high and low. My question is I have a pair of 6" PIAA fog lights on my bumper, I installed them to the factory wiring months ago and smoked up the fuse-able link. A few hours ago I started to rewire my fogs and tomorrow will finish the wiring to the relay (I just got back from college). My question is, I know the black wire is my ground and the blue is my 12v in from the relay, but why do I need a 12v out from a fuse? I want to be able to use the fogs when ever I want so can't I just connect the relay wire to the power input, take out the fuse wire (since I have a fuse by the battery) and keep the ground and illuminating wire attached as is? I really am just confused on the reason for having 3 prongs on a rocker switch if I have a relay and the use of another fuse wire to the switch if the relay has one connected (if you want to wire them like I do)

Are you installing a new relay for the fogs? You need to if the fusible link blows- the factory relay isn't heavy enough.
Assuming you are, feed the new relay contact terminal +12V from the battery through a suitable fuse. Other contact terminal to the lamps.
Steal the light green wire from the factory fog lamp relay and connect to one end of the new relay coil. Other coil terminal to ground.

If you want the fogs to work regardless of parking lights/high beams, rewire the dash switch so that the lt green wire is connected to a battery or accessory +12V feed.
(it currently is fed from the parking light circuit).

From my stash of saved drawings. Color codes not 100% correct, but a good general idea of how to wire:

Ok so I ran the wire from the relay and ground into the dash, but why do I need a third wire?

Which third wire are you talking about?

You need three wires to the switch:
1) Ground. For the indicator light
2) +12 volts from battery or ign.
3) Switched power out (+12V when switch is ON) to operate the fog light relay coil.

There should be an unused "BAT" or "IGN" socket in your interior fuse panel.
Depends if you want the fogs to operate at any time, or only when the key is turned on.

I would like it to work anytime with just a flip of the switch, i don't care if the key has to be turned on or not, so I just run the wire to the socket and that's it?

Then you need to find a source of battery power. There should be a "BAT" terminal available to plug into on the fuse panel.

How do you have the relay wired? One coil connector grounded, the other coming back to your switch?

This is how I did mine, the only thing that is different is that I have a built in light in the switch so I have a separate ground and no wire running to the fuse box

Should work fine. Just need to bring power to the switch from the fuse box.
You could tap into nearby power if you have to- cigarette lighter feed will work. The switch only pulls enough power to operate the relay...not very much.
