Well i was out 4x4in today and i ripped my exhuast off well the tail pipe just from the end of the muffler...for the time being i welded in a custom exhuast hanger to keep it up but what are the cons of this? i never idle my vechile so im not worried about exhuast leaking up into the cab as i figure as long as im moving the exhuast gases shouldnt enter the cab..what do you guys think? i do plan on putting a tail pipe on but for the time being i have no cash...oh and i would put the old one back on but it got wrapped around my axle. thanks

it'll be loud, but you could weld up a hanger and put a turn-down right there. I did something real similar. you can see a pic of it on my thread on my jeep that is on it's roof.

mine cuts out before the rear axle with no turndown or anything on it, i drive 2+ hours pretty often and have yet to have an issue with anything.

weird you would mention this.. same thing happened to me last Sat. but mine took the muffler with it. I ran with no tail pipe or muffler for 2 days till i got it fixed, i really didn't notice any exhaust entering the cab even while not moving..

ya you're more than likely fine, unless you plan on idling for hours with no wind, then you may have a slight chance of it seeping in. otherwise the air goin under the jeep will probably keep it outta the cabin

Did this for a while. Sure seems like a chance of overheating the diff/axle with no turn down at all.

X2 I agree completely. A turn-down is very necessary. You could over-heat all kinds of things if you don't. Especially that PLASTIC thing in the far back that holds a flamable liquid in it.

I don't have a pic, but my turn-down set up is almost exactly like the one in the pic.
