I'm putting everything back together after an engine rebuild on my 2000 with the 4.0. The torque values are listed for the manifold bolts and nuts that go on the studs, but not for the studs themselves that are threaded into the head. Are they to be tightened to 23 ft. lbs. the same as the nut that goes on them?

 

Typically there's no specific torque for studs. You thread them in until they bottom out.

And, the factory torque value for the fasteners is too low and a ***** to achieve. Use the correct pattern and and torque if you want. Then go back over without the torque wrench and cinch em down a bit more. Big thing to be aware of is that the intake manifold is truly seated to the head and not hanging up on a locating dowel.
