Yeah get ready for a whole lot of work. Make sure you swap all the wiring as well and just keep the shell.

The firewalls are not diff..... The radiator support is. As long as you have both xjs complete you will be good! Most everything will be bolt in with a few things requiring some minor mods. It will require ALL OF THE WIRING HARNESS and a little bit of common skills. I went from 2.5/4 speed to ho 4.0 5 speed

I know what he has, and i have owned a 1986 2.8 litre v6 jeep cherokee. AMC did not set up a separate firewall press just to install the Chevrolet sourced bad crank having POS V6

Do i modify the opening for the larger radiator or try to use the smaller one? The one that has cap on it is the one that came out of the 86.Thanx for the input so far.

Use everything that belongs with the 4.0. As you unbolt them it will be clear what needs to be swapped. I'll look at my pics tomorrow as i don't recall what the radiator support ends look like.
