Default estimate from body shop

Got a quick estimate from a body shop to install new rocker panels and undercoat bottom of jeep. Looking at 1700$. Alot more than I thought.

I only paid 1000$ for the jeep. Going to take it to another place and see what they will charge.

Anyone else had similar work done and at what cost?

Thanks

Not a bad price as long as the work is done well.

I don't own a welder or have any welding experience. However, I'm the type if I can do something I will. I am thinking of buying a welder and doing the work myself.

with no welding experience i wouldnt jump into replacing your rockers
sheetmetal is a ***** to weld, and is easy to warp, especially on the XJ's...

Buy or rent a welder. Practice on some scrap metal....then do it your self. It cant be that hard. Coating the underside of your jeep will be a pain but to save that kind of money, get some used cloths from the goodwill, buy a bucket of bed liner and some frosty beverages and have some fun this weekend. You'll save some cash that can be spent on more jeep stuff
