I'd say it's probably more common to have some sort of valvetrain noise, particularly lifters than not when they get some miles on them. I don't mind, it drowns out the piston slap.

You forgot to mention the 'carrots'.

That's what I run in the summer. Good stuff. Have to go back to a 5/30 in the winter because of the temps.

Oh right, yours goes on upside down... geez these old-timin' Jeeps and their wacky filters! :P Obviously you do it, uh, VERY carefully...

Okay so that's a dud. I still want to know if we can increment the OCOD Victim tally.

Does anybody's front driveshaft Spin while there in 2WD? Is that normal too?

I have no idea what kind of oil was in it before me. I just got the jeep.

So i guess the noise is normal then.

What transfer case?

What brand of oil filter did you use?

Ever shine a light into the oil filler hole to see how much sludge might be present?

Your CCV system is probably clogged or some other way compromised.

White steamy smoke or oil burning smoke?

Both my 93 and 95 have the horizontal, if that helps narrow it down. so 92 could go either way, not sure
