Default Engine Tick

Have just within the past week started to have an engine tick. It is a constant steady tick that only happens when it is below 1000 rpm. As soon as I start to drive or idle over a 1000 the tick goes away and it runs just fine. I have a code that popped for a transaxle control module. What is that module and is that my problem? Any help?

The tick sounds like an exhaust leak. You can get a long screwdriver or piece of tubing and hold it up to your ear and move it around the engine bay to isolate the tick.

That would make since because I also have o2 sensor codes but I just replaced the whole exhaust with stock parts. The only thing I didn't replace was the manifold.

Could be valvetrain tick as well. When you come off idle the oil pressure rises and the tick goes away. What oil pressure are you sitting at at idle?

Sounds normal to me, i never expect either of mine to make "normal" sounds. I make a game out of it driving down the road and thru tunnels especially. Name the sound, my buddies get it, my girl freaks out, good times.....

That's good pressure. Could still be valve train buy doubt it. Feel around the exhaust for a leak anywhere in any pipe or connection

Just to know... But why would an exhaust cause my engine to tick?

Remove oil cap - put your ear over the oil hole - if the tick is loud, it's a lifter.
Else it probably an exhaust leak - listen underneath. It ticks because the pressure is in pulses.

Yea, mine ticks from time to time and if you hold it you can feel that's where it ticks from. If the ticking goes faster where you're in the peddle I would say its a lifter
